Zouhair Oumoussa reveals the recipe for his success!

Last updated onDecember 16, 2020

It is 5:37 pm when I call Zouhair to write the article you have in front of your eyes.

I ask him if he has about fifteen minutes to spare for an interview about his journey with and without BN Nutrition, and it is with yes from him that our phone conversation begins.

It is 6:38 pm when our call ends. This already says a lot about Zouhair and his personality, but it would be a shame to stop there.

So on "vacation" in St-Moritz (understand by this an altitude training internship), Zouhair tells everything without reserve, about his journey, his vision of sport and performance, on his goals but also about daily lessons he draws from his various sports and extra-sports experiences.

It's true, at BN, we are strong believers in great stories...

... And the story of the adopted Swiss runner knows how to tell itself. With a city of Besançon as the starting point and life conditions not always ideal, Zouhair did not start at the same starting line as the average runner, that's for sure. But to say that what matters is not the race but the finish line? It would be nice, but it's not his philosophy, a philosophy that we share at BN.

Zouhair in a few words it's: An experienced practice of massage therapy with a current improvement of his skills in Chinese medicine, titles in cross country, 10km, marathon, corrida, and unwavering faith. Zouhair does not run with Asics, but understands well the notion "anima sana in corpo sano".

A general balance then, which we agree with him again.

His globalist vision and his experience of performance and well-being simply, allow him today at 36 years old to be more competitive than ever, and this on all levels.

Then there are also the words he puts on his journey and his know-how, which he says is more and more accessible and democratized. And we would like to hear this resonate more and more in the areas we share. Faced with a lack of infrastructure and help that you can encounter when you are an independent high-level athlete, the Lausanne lover has been able to compose his recipe for success, which is also composed of a wide range of ingredients.

The so-called recipe in a few points:

  • A good handful of self-discipline in terms of sleep
  • A ladle of desire for evolution
  • A mind that doesn't measure in grams
  • Enjoyment of "smart" eating (mainly avoid adding a stress factor)
  • Quality equipment is a must
  • Throw mental barriers in the trash
  • A spoonful of "self-awareness"

In terms of nutrition but without talking about recipe this time, Zouhair describes his habits as relatively simple. Another aspect that we have always been keen on transmitting to our community. Oatmeal, dates, eggs, mint tea, wholemeal bread, olive oil, honey, kiwi, lemon-turmeric-galanga-ginger-black pepper juice, this is what can be found among other things in his breakfasts.

Regarding dietary supplements, Maca, Spirulina, BN Energy, Omega3, and BN After are part of Zouhair's daily life, who knows himself well enough to clearly and laughingly say that when he is not aligned at this level, he sleeps very early.

Because BN Nutrition is also this, being in the before, during and after.

Being in time is therefore not just a question of racing...

...as our athlete has understood. What Olivier puts at the heart of his discourse in his consultations: what to eat, yes, but especially when. And what about the next?

What's next, is that we will be fully behind you (like the other runners, literally ;) ) for your preparation for the Swiss championships and the quest for your personal record combined with the acquisition of the Olympic minimum, Zouhair.

All we have to do now is wish you to be aligned both on the track and in your energies for your next big appointments!
